Four Reasons You Should Ditch Your Bra

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CU Boulder chapter.

I remember being in grade school when I was younger and picking up my first bra. I was so excited. Looking back, I don’t understand why. As I’ve gotten older, I cannot fathom why I was so excited. I now believe that bras should not exist. I know, I know, they provide support and some people genuinely like them. That’s valid, but do you know what else is valid? Not liking them, and I don’t. In fact, I haven’t worn one in over a year.

When people first found out I ditched my bra, they were a bit confused. They asked if it was comfortable, if people stare, how I wear certain pieces of clothing, and many even ask where the confidence to do so came from. It wasn’t a change that happened overnight, and getting to a point where I was comfortable being 100% braless wasn’t easy. It was, however, the most amazing decision I ever made. So without further ado, here are four reasons why you should ditch your bra.

Comfort becomes your best friend!

Going braless has made my days infinitely better. When I was still wearing them, I was ALWAYS uncomfortable. My shoulders hurt. I felt restricted. The joy in my day came from going home and taking it off. All of those problems, gone! Not wearing a bra has truly transformed my life. I am always comfy, my back doesn’t hate me, and I’m not constantly counting down the minutes till when I can take it off.

It’s cheaper!

Bras are SO expensive. Sure, you can find bras anywhere, but the truth is that no matter how affordable some can be, it adds up. Some bras can range up to 100 dollars. That’s insane! The best ways to save money on bras is to not wear one. It’s a win, win!

It’s actually good for you!

Since I was a young girl, I was taught that wearing a bra was what was best for you. It was made to seem like without one, my boobs would suffer. The truth is, it’s the opposite. Going braless has actually shown to improve circulation, perk up your boobs and provide an overall boost to breast health! What else could you want?

It will make you more confident!

When I first went braless, I was actually super self conscious about it. I felt that everyone’s eyes were on me and wanted to hide in the nearest corner. However, as time went on and I wore a bra less and less, I actually started to appreciate myself more. I began to feel in touch with my body and the love I felt for myself went through the roof! It has worked wonders for my confidence. Going braless is life changing!

Going braless has changed my life! Try it, it might change yours.
