Five Must-Have Accessories to Add to Your Summer Wardrobe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CU Boulder chapter.

The weather is getting warmer, and that only means one thing: summer fashion is back. Summer fashion gives you the luxury of being able to take simple pieces and outfits and spice them up with fun accessories. I have curated a list of must-have accessories to add to your wardrobe this summer. Keep reading to learn new ways to mix up your wardrobe.

Trucker Hats

Hats are back, and I am overjoyed. My collection of hats will finally get the love and attention that they deserve! I have always loved styling my outfits with a fun trucker, baseball, or bucket hat. This season, I have seen a rapid increase in trucker hats among brands. Brands like Wish Me Luck, Madhappy, and Aime Leon Dore are taking trucker hats to the next level this season by adding fun graphics and bright colors.

Statement Rings

Recently, I have been seeing statement rings all over my social media pages. The trends have strayed away from traditional metal materials and transitioned to more creative materials such as resin, clay, and wire. There are so many people around the world that have started making and selling their own, creative rings. Etsy is the perfect place to shop small businesses and support local artists when it comes to buying rings.

Beaded Jewelry

Lately, I have noticed more and more brands stocking pieces that almost look like something you made for your mother on Mother’s Day at summer camp. Consisting of mismatched vibrant beads, charms, flowers, and letters, this jewelry trend is the definition of nostalgic and crafty… in the best way possible. I have my eye on literally everything from Martha Calvo, but brands like Zara and Urban Outfitters have much more affordable options. This trend adds a unique pop-of-color aspect to every outfit, and you’ll be guaranteed to receive compliments.

Claw Clips

Claw clips are the latest 90s trend to make their comeback, thanks to models like Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid. Big exaggerated clips elevate a boring ponytail or updo without having to put too much effort or thought into it. They are so versatile and work on every hair length and texture. I recently got a claw clip at Urban Outfitters, but brands like Amazon, Free People, and Asos also have a ton of fun and affordable clips!

Phone Charms

My entire Instagram feed has been filled with mirror selfies on influencers rocking a phone charm. Phone charms are chains of fun beads and other charms that connect to the corner of your phone. They are incredibly colorful, unique, and offer the perfect DIY project. Phone charms really spice up your boring phone and make you stand out from a sea of plain iPhones. They are super simple to make yourself which allows for easy customization and personalization. If you are not in the DIY mood, check out Amazon and Etsy for affordable options!

Upgrade and reinvent your summer looks by adding these easy accessories to your wardrobe! Step into summer feeling confident and looking your best.
