Fall Activities In Boulder

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CU Boulder chapter.

While fall in Boulder might bring to mind tailgating, cold weather, and midterms, there’s a ton of other things our city has to offer this time of year. Check out some of the highlights below, all of which can be enjoyed solo, with family, or with your closest friends!

Apple Picking

Get a head start on baking your apple pies this year, as many farms around Boulder have their own apple orchards. Some of my favorites are YaYa Farm & Orchard, Happy Apple Farm, Apple Valley Orchard, and Delicious Orchards. Pro tip: some of these orchards do require reservations.

Red Rocks Concerts

Similar to the Farmers Market, Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre closes its doors during the winter season. Make sure to attend one of the few concerts they have left for the year, as it truly is the best concert you’ll ever experience.

Upcoming Shows: Fitz & The Tantrums/WALK THE MOON on October 6th, Blackbear on October 19th

Poetry Night at Innisfree Poetry Bookstore and Café

This is one of those things you have to experience at least once during your time at CU. Every Tuesday night Innisfree hosts a Poetry Night, where people are allowed to perform at the open mic from 7pm until close. And don’t worry if poetry isn’t your thing— many people perform songs, skits, and jokes as well. Pro tip: Arrive early to grab a seat and bring some homework to do!

Cheer on CU’s Women’s Sports Teams

As much as we all love a good football game, CU has many other collegiate level sports to keep up with. Check out CU’s Women’s Volleyball and Women’s Soccer teams, who have home games from now until early November.

Boulder County Farmers Markets

Ah, the old classic. This is a great place to bring your parents when they’re in town, or stroll through by yourself on a lazy Saturday morning. Make sure you swing by before they close for the year. Wednesday’s farmers market is set to close on October 3rd and Saturday’s on November 17th.

Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art

Although on the smaller side, BMoCA offers a cozy spot to check out art and is only a short walk from campus. A new exhibition titled “Worlds Suspended in Reality” is currently being installed, and will be open to the public on October 4th.

Now that you’re aware of all the fun things happening in and around Boulder this fall, make sure to make some time in your schedule and go check them out!
