From Face Jewels to Worldwide Conversation During COVID-19

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CU Boulder chapter.

With so much going on in the world right now, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with all the content being thrown at you on social media. Whether it be memes, jokes about quarantine, lack of basic needs, or anyone’s opinions about how this situation should be handled. But what do you really know about what’s going on in the world with COVID-19? We’ve been hearing about Italy and China, but have we heard any personal stories from actual women about how it’s been for them and their communities?

Artemis Wild Jewels has really taken the seriousness of this pandemic to heart, and seen the worldwide struggle as a way to create a strong worldwide community of women telling their stories. On their YouTube page, they’ve started a video series talking to other women all over the globe about how the virus has been affecting themselves and their communities.

In a time like this, when we are all stuck in our homes working, doing school work, and just trying to stay occupied, it’s important to engage with other people as much as possible. Feeling connected, even with social media and the internet, can feel hard when there’s so much negative energy being put out there. Artemis Wild Jewels is using their platform meant for inspiring women to be unapologetically themselves for good in this time of panic.

The videos in this series so far feature real video calls with women in Chile, Israel, Tel Aviv, Mexico, and the United Kingdom discussing their genuine stories. If you want to be a part of that community and support the key value of being unapologetically yourself, check out their videos, their website, and their Instagram to become a part of this amazing project!
