A letter to CU Boulder students’ beloved supermarket, Bovas, relocated but still near to our hearts.
You stood there on the corner of Broadway and University.
From 7 a.m. to 2 a.m.,
You were always there for me.
Ruben, I thank you for cooking with love.
Your sandwiches fit my appetite and my heart like a glove.
We all met Nick and became friends behind the counter
We’d say “What’s up?” before a study sesh or a night at The Downer.
A morning Poptart or a late-night Brandon,
As long as the lights were on I was never abandoned.
I remember a time I had to do so much laundry.
No tide pods, no detergent;
Only dirty clothes to taunt to me
I wondered where to go; it was past Target’s hours.
Then I saw your open sign;
I was in a desert seeing flowers
You had what I needed, like you always do.
A master of all college kids’ needs, like a sensei in kung fu.
Although you have moved to a new location,
I will take the drive, the bike, the walk to maintain our congregation.
Thank you Bova’s for all that you have done.
Please keep Boulder students in mind,
For this is not our end run.
Love,
Your biggest fans, the students of CU Boulder
