Cinco de Mayo in Boulder

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CU Boulder chapter.

Cinco de Mayo, a holiday we have celebrated since kindergarten, has become the perfect chance for CU students to relieve stress and have a drink in honor of Mexican victory over French Forces in 1862. Not to mention it is CU’s last day of finals and the sweet start of summer vacation! Where and how will CU students be celebrating?

Downtown Boulder will be hosting several Mexican inspired events at our favorite restaurants. Centro Latin American Kitchen has a Cinco de Mayo Party with “5 Finger Punch,” $5 margaritas and $5 taco plate. The Rio Grande Mexican restaurant has a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta with an IPad giveaway and drink specials.  The Goose on the Hill has its usual Happy Hour special $15 Corona or Pacifico buckets. The Connection at the UMC will have free bowling and pool for all its Facebook friends from 2-4 pm.

The Hill will most likely be busy and fun for the first night of summer, so staying in to cook a rewarding Taco Thursday meal  would be the perfect start to long night out. Sit on the porch with some friends and Mexican hot chocolate and watch all the people strolling from party to party.

Relax, rewind and spend some time with friends on Cinco de Mayo next Thursday. Enjoy your summer!
