5 Things To Do Over Christmas Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CU Boulder chapter.

After being away from home for so long, it can be kind of difficult to find things to do while you’re there. These ideas will leave no time for boredom and are sure to get you into the Christmas spirit!

1. Visit Family and Friends

Being away from home for so long can be really hard. Now that you finally get to go home for nearly a month, it’s the perfect opportunity to visit all those friends who have also been away.

2. Look at Christmas lights.

Now that winter is upon us, it gets dark so early in the evening, which gives us so much time to go out and see everyone’s bright and beautiful Christmas decor!  In the winter I always find myself bored because it’s too cold to go outside and do anything, so grabbing some hot chocolate and going for a drive with friends is a perfect way to fill your time and get in the Christmas spirit.

3. Have a Christmas movie marathon.

If you live somewhere snowy and can’t drive out to look at the Christmas lights, get into the Christmas spirit by spending a day watching all of your favorite holiday movies. Whether you’re planning on spending the day alone or with friends, it’s the perfect way to relax and eat way too many snacks.

4. Help others.

Around this time of year, you might think of family and happiness, but that’s not the case for everyone.  For some people, this time of year is lonely and dreaded. If you can, take this opportunity to help those who need it and give them a happier holiday season. Whether this is donating to a toy drive, volunteering at a homeless shelter, donating to families in need, or anything else you can think of to help your community, you could change someone’s holiday season for the better.

5.  Bake.

The options for this are endless. This is perfect if you want to bake cookies to eat for your movie marathon, bake bread to gift to someone, or even have a gingerbread house building contest with a friend.
