10 Things to do with Your Bestie this Christmas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CU Boulder chapter.

Everywhere you go during this time of year just seems a little bit more special. With the fresh snow outside accompanied by the holiday decorations and twinkling lights, it’s hard to not feel a little happier than usual because of the holiday spirit. Here are the 10 best things to do with your bestie to help you get into the holiday spirit!

Christmas karaoke

We all know that one of the best parts about the holidays is the music. So have a little Christmas karaoke with your friends. I know you love to sing All I Want for Christmas is You while pretending to be Mariah Carey. Or maybe you like reenacting the scene from Mean Girls. Well, whatever it is, it’s sure to put you in the holiday spirit, and it can make decorating more fun too.

Ugly sweaters…that aren’t totally ugly

With the Christmas season comes the ugly and even uglier ugly sweaters. There are a few different ways to embrace this. You can truly get matching ugly sweaters for fun, or maybe enter a contest. But, if you’re like me and don’t want to have to wear it, there are ugly sweaters that aren’t totally ugly. It just shows you put in the effort and gave it thought.

Tree lightings

From New York City to Los Angeles, cities around the world have annual tree lightings. What better way to kick off the holiday season than to spend the night with your bestie watching Christmas come to life?

Ice skating

Ice skating a classic winter activity that could be someone’s worst nightmare. Even if you aren’t so good on your feet with balancing, I promise ice skating will still be just as fun. When you go with your friends, no one cares how good you are. Remember it’s not the Olympics, it’s just your friends.

Netflix and Hot Cocoa

What is the Christmas season without binge watching all the Christmas movies with your friend while sipping on hot coco. True Christmas fans know that every night is reserved for ABC Family’s (Freeform’s) 25 days of Christmas.

DIY crafts

Time to look at Pinterest. All those cute crafts you see but think you can’t do, if you’re artistically challenged like myself, might be your next holiday activity. You never know when you might get snowed into your house when you’re here in Colorado, and these crafts will help time go by and you’ll enjoy yourself.

Bake cookies

The Christmas season is basically just us saying “treat yourself” every single day. But hey, it’s okay because it is the holidays. We all start to consume enormous amounts of sugar during this time, so what better way to spend a Sunday evening than to make and decorate sugar cookies with your bestie?

Make a gingerbread house

If you happen to finish baking cookies but still have leftover decorations, you can always opt for making a gingerbread house. You can even make it a friendly competition to see who can make the best one.

Volunteer somewhere

It’s easy to get caught up in all the excitement of the season and all the various gifts you will give and receive, but it’s important to remember the most important part of Christmas. Spending time with friends and family. Lots of people don’t experience the holidays like you do, so take some time and volunteer at a local charity to help bring joy to someone else this season.

Go Christmas Caroling

Last but definitely not least, Christmas caroling. This is kind of similar to the first one, Christmas Karaoke, but it’s definitely something you’ll want to do if you and your friends love embarrassing each other in public. Go sing your heart out to anyone who will listen.

The Holiday Season is truly a special time of year, so spend it with that extra special person in your life to make it just a little bit better. Happy Holidays Buffs!
