I can’t help but see the countdown to Christmas clocks on Facebook and become filled with joy for a few seconds.

You might be thinking, Kaitlyn. Chill, it’s only October, but no I cannot chill. I absolutely love everything about Christmas.

First, everyone is in a good mood the whole month of December. You can’t help but be happy because everyone else is happy. I swear, everyone is so much kinder. You won’t find someone to hold a door open for you in October, but in December, whole different story. I don’t know what it is, maybe religion, maybe it’s just the overall Christmas spirit but it changes people. I stand by that.

Second, 25 days of Christmas comes on ABC Family. Christmas movies are by far the best movies made. I will stand by that too. I remember growing up, my mom and I would sit on the couch together at night and watch the different movies played for 25 days straight. It was so special to me as a kid and now as 19-year-old, I still make sure we have the chance to watch those movies together.

Third, having my family all together (for once.) My oldest brother moved out of the house and onto college dorm life when I was in middle school, so growing up I didn’t always have my whole family around every day. Just having that time all together again, is so special to me. Not to mention, I get to see my extended family during Christmas time as well. I’m surrounded with love from every direction when I’m around my family and I don’t see myself wanting to ever give that up.

Fourth, I mean this could be debatable for some people but, Christmas music rocks. You can catch me in my car every day leading up to December 25th jamming to Santa Baby. Maybe not every single day, but it does happen frequently. I do however, agree that Christmas music is strictly for December. I don’t want to hear any song related to that day until the first day of December hits.

Finally, Christmas lights are freaking beautiful. Every year I want my house to look like the Griswold House in Family Vacation. If you’ve never seen that movie, for your sake, watch it as soon as possible. I always make it a point to go on a little car ride towards the end of December to see all the lights hung up. Talk about a stress reliever, that’s the cure to stress right there.

Anyways, 12 more Friday’s till Christmas, not that I’m counting or anything.
