Mornings suck! Here are a few tips to help you get going on the days when your body is just telling you no.

1. Open a Window

When you’re tired and are already having trouble getting out of bed, the darkness of your room doesn’t help. By simply raising your blinds or opening your curtains, you get natural light that wakes you up without blinding you the way florescent room lights do.

2. Drink a glass of water

Everyone’s go to drink in the morning to wake up is coffee, and I completely understand why. Coffee gives you a jolt of energy to help get you going. A healthier and more effective alternative is cold water. Not only does the cold wake you up, but studies have shown the water actually helps stimulate your insides and gets them running for the day.

3. Planner, Planner, Planner

There’s something so satisfying about knowing what your day is going to look like right from the beginning. If you sit down and loosely plan your day with fun colors and stickers, somehow you’ll actually look forward to that reading assignment you have to do later. This also gives you time to relax in the morning without lying back down in bed and possibly falling asleep.

4. Stretching

You don’t have to do a full on yoga stretch for this to be helpful in the morning. Simply letting yourself yawn with your entire body and rolling your neck and ankles a few times can really shake out the last bit of sleep you have in your body. And it can also get you ready for your trek to Central Campus!

5. Find something to smile about

My personal favorite of these is finding some wholesome memes on the internet or finding funny gifs of little animals. Your morning definitely sets the tone for your day, so why not start it by feeling good?
