How To Make Your Dorm Room Spring Ready

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cornell chapter.

Ithaca may be covered in snow right now, but don’t worry! Spring weather is right around the corner. Here are some ways to make your dorm room spring ready and add some warmth into your life:

1. Plants, plants and more plants

Plants have a way to bring life into a room instantly. If you’re like me and don’t have the motherly instincts to keep a plant alive, succulents or even fake plants are the perfect solution.

2. Colorful wall decor

Cover one of your boring dorm room walls with a tapestry. This will add color to the room and make it feel homier. Overtime, the color will help you forget how prison-like your dorm room is.

3. Switch up your pillows

There’s nothing like bringing in a new season by switching up your decor completely, but on a college budget that isn’t very easy. Instead, switch out your old pillow cases for new colors, or buy accent pillows to transform your bed. Accent pillows will help you bring life to your room for spring.

4. Get rid of dark colors

Sure those black bed sheets may make it easy for you to ignore the spills from your 2 am Ben and Jerry’s Netflix binge, but they also make your room look smaller. By replacing dark sheets with brighter ones, your room will not only be livelier, but it will also feel bigger.

It might take a while for the snow to melt, but if you follow these tips, your room will be spring ready in no time!
