Aside from the fact that Chris Harrison looks the same as he did 15 years ago, the hit ABC show The Bachelor has been around forever, and it’s still the guilty pleasures of girls (and guys) everywhere. Ever since The Bachelor first aired in 2002, it as well as its spin-offs (The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise) have blessed us die-hard fans with a countless array of cuties, crazies and controversial contestants. Here are some recent contestants we’ve grown to either love or hate.
Worst: Nick Viall
I don’t think any of us were jumping for joy when Nick was announced as the new Bachelor. We dislike Nick because of his boring personality and his long-winded storyline (2 seasons on the Bachelorette + 1 season on Bachelor in Paradise), but we’re mostly annoyed because they could have chosen Luke Pell from JoJo’s season instead. Hopefully this season works out for him so he can finally graduate from The Bachelor series and move on with his life.
Best: Sean Lowe
Sean is, in my eyes, the best Bachelor that ever existed. (Begin reading in a Chris Harrison voice) After being sent home by Emily in The Bachelorette, we watched his triumphant return as the Bachelor and his continued journey to find love. Viewers everywhere fell in love with him and his now-wife Catherine for their down-to-earth, goofy personalities. They also recently had a son Samuel who’s absolutely adorable!
Worst: Tierra (from Sean’s season)
This girl was arguably the worst crier ever. She was also incredibly mean to the rest of the girls and even Sean and Catherine who are absolute angels.

Best: JoJo Fletcher
I think we can all agree we knew Jordan was going to win the minute she laid eyes on him. It’s likely he was using her all along to reclaim his fame as a retired football player, but JoJo was super sweet (even though it took her an eternity to send Chad home).
Worst: Chad Johnson (from JoJo’s season)
Every season has its badboy, but for JoJo’s season, the producers decided to stretch the storyline way too far. It was obvious Chad was abnormally aggressive, but the drama he caused got annoying. He also freaked the internet out when he was shown eating a raw sweet potato among other obscure food items. Here’s a link of all the miscellaneous things Chad has eaten.
Best: Ben Higgins
Ben was the perfect combination of sexy and cute, but don’t let those beautiful brown eyes fool you, this bachelor was more than just good looks. His occupation is something other than “personal trainer” or “model.” He’s actually a software account manager! Okay, yes, nerdy but in the most adorable way! He took the process seriously and didn’t have a single episode that made me want to punch him in the face – another nice change of pace for The Bachelor. Though very vanilla, Ben was such a sweetheart and definitely seemed like someone you could take home to meet your family.
Worst: Olivia Caridi (Ben’s season)
We can all empathize with Olivia as Ben sent her home and left with twin Emily, leaving her stranded on a sandy beach. She eventually made it off the island, but honestly that girl was extremely rude. She even called fellow contestant Amanda a “teen mom.”
Best: The Canadian (also from JoJo’s season)
I think his name was Daniel? Though obviously staged, he poked some good-hearted, cliche fun at the Great White North.
Worst: Chris Soules
Three words: Straight. Up. Boring. The whole farmer-image was super appealing but the guy just didn’t have the charisma to hold an audience for a whole season.
Best: Tiara (from Ben Higgins’ season)
Her time on the show was short-lived, but her memorable occupation definitely made a lasting impact.
Worst: Juan Pablo Galavis
Even though he was easy on the eyes, the guy was a total jerk. Not only was he unable to make eye contact with any girl, but off the show, he made some pretty terrible comments that were a PR nightmare.
Best: Kaitlyn Bristowe
To be honest, the girl was a little crazy, but she was hilarious, so everyone seemed to love her nonetheless. Memorable Kaitlyn moments: her Costco date with Jimmy Fallon and how she spoiled the finale via her Snapchat story. She’s also still together with finalist Shawn Booth who looks like Ryan Gosling’s doppelganger – so well done Kaitlyn!
