5 Cute Valentine’s Day Date Ideas in Ithaca

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cornell chapter.

Valentine’s Day is upon us once again, and it may be stressful to think of the perfect date idea, especially if you’re complaining there’s not much to do in Ithaca. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Here are a few things to do with your significant other around Ithaca no matter if you’re just getting to know each other or in a serious relationship.

1. Brunch at Waffle Frolic

There’s no better way to start the day than brunch. Head downtown to enjoy some quality time (and food) with your special someone. Plus, it’s totally instagrammable!

2. Hit the slopes at Greek Peak

This is the perfect date idea for those winter sports lovers out there! Get bundled up and head out to Ithaca’s local ski resort, Greek Peak, which is just a 30-minute drive from Cornell’s campus. If you’re not the ski or snowboard type, they also have snow tubing for all your winter fun needs.

3. Ice skating at Lynah Rink

What better time for ice skating than Valentine’s Day? It’s the classic wintertime date and a guaranteed good time. Admission is only $3 and an additional $2 for skate rental. Hold on tight and take a couple of spins around the rink!

4. Have dinner and a movie night

You can’t go wrong with this classic date. Forget about Netflix and chill and check out the Ithaca Commons movie theater, Cinemapolis, or Ithaca Mall’s Regal Cinema. Whether you’re in the mood for a romantic drama like La La Land or have been waiting to finally get a chance to see the most recent Star Wars movie, now is your time!

5. Check out the Johnson Museum and Star Gaze

Who says museums have to be boring? Take your date to Cornell’s own art museum to check out the new exhibits, and afterward you can stargaze under the roof of the Johnson and relax from the stressful work that may be just starting to pile up from the third week of classes.

Whatever you may end up doing, enjoy your Valentine’s Day!
