Calling all Zoey 101 fans! The time has finally come for us to receive some answers! On September 18, Dan Schneider, the producer of Zoey 101, Drake and Josh, The Amanda Show, All That, and a bunch of other fantastic TeenNick shows, released a video that finally told the world what Zoey said 10 years ago in the time capsule video. Back in 2005, during the second season of Zoey 101, Zoey and her crew had a project in which they were each supposed to create something that represented them and put it into a time capsule. For her project, Zoey created a video in which she described what each of her friends meant to her. This time capsule was supposed to be dug up 20 years later, but Chase was determined to know what was said about him and attempted to watch the video early. Ultimately, Chase (being that sweet, weird kid he always was) decided that it was wrong for him to watch it without Zoey’s permission. She does, however, give him permission to watch the video, but 10 years in the future instead of 20. Fast forward 10 long years to the big reveal a few weeks ago:
In the video, we find Chase, with much less bushy hair, sitting in a restaurant with his girlfriend and an engagement ring in a clamshell. First of all, when he begins to propose he starts by almost calling his girlfriend Zoey, but quickly catches himself in the process. He goes on with his proposal, but is soon interrupted by his old roommate/best friend, Michael. It turns out that Michael had flown all the way to California, dug up the time capsule, and watched the video himself (can a best friend get any better??). After some classic, cheesy Nickelodeon jokes Michael tells Chase that Zoey said that he might be her soul mate! Of course Chase is then prompted to take the ring back from his girlfriend and go find Zoey. At the end of the mini episode, we are left with the message “to be continued…?” While most of us had probably not thought about Zoey 101 since its finale in 2008, “the big reveal” was certainly a refreshing throwback!
