Tips for Floralia!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Conn Coll chapter.

The time has finally come – this Saturday let’s ring in the most exciting event of the year with a cheer! And perhaps a lot of beer…But first, here are some tips to keep you safe and happy this Floralia 2012!

Pace Yourself
For many of us, casually drinking all day is quite exciting, especially during the most anticipated event of the year. However, remember to always pace yourself when doing so, otherwise you’ll end up either hungover by mid-afternoon, sick, or wiped out from fatigue. Try to take it easy during the day (beer and other light-drinks) and then drink hard liquor later in the evening .

Stay Hydrated
Since you’ll be outside most of the day, it’s important to stay hydrated, especially if it’s hot and sunny. Try to alternate between alcohol and water so you don’t become too drunk (seriously) or fatigued.

Take a Nap
Make sure to try and squeeze in an afternoon nap so that you will be re-energized for the night’s festivities! This will also give you time to re-hydrate and organize everything you need for the remainder of the day.

Eat & Stay Energized
Please do not forget to eat! It’s easy to skip meals with all the exciting events happening, however, with the amount of alcohol you will consume, it’s important to eat and stay energized. Try to avoid eating right before dancing heavily, otherwise the combination between alcohol and food may not mix well..

Weather Gear
Regardless of sunshine or rain, it’s important to be prepared. Make sure to apply plenty of sunscreen to avoid sunburns. Also, find some shade every so often to avoid dehydration and fatigue. If it happens to rain, pull out your finest rain gear and don’t let the weather ruin the best of Floralia!

Have Fun!
You’ve been working hard all year and deserve to enjoy this day! Please remember to stay safe and cautious of others during this event. You’ll be glad you took the extra time to be prepared. Now you can still go crazy without feeling miserable, or worse, ending up in the hospital..
