In honor of the release of Red (Taylor’s Version), I thought it would be fun to match up the zodiac signs with songs on the album. I am in no way claiming to be an expert astrologist, although I will admit that it intrigues me. This article simply goes off my very basic, humble knowledge. Just consider me to be an astrology enthusiast and take everything said in this article with a grain of salt. Also, to preface, I excluded bonus tracks from this album because there are already 16 songs on Red. That also means that since there are only 12 zodiac signs not every song will be represented.

Aries (bold, ambitious, brave): 22

This song exudes brave, bold, confident energy to me. It’s all about being 22, having the time of your life, and not caring about what other people think. Aries are fire signs who aren’t afraid to go after what they want, and Taylor is not shying away from living her best life in this song.

“You don’t know about me/But I’ll bet you want to”

Taurus (dependable, stubborn, steadfast): Stay Stay Stay

Tauruses are known for valuing comfort, pleasure, security, and feeling taken care of. When listening to “Stay Stay Stay” (a song that does not deserve the hate, it really grows on you), I couldn’t help but think of the Taurus vibes it was giving. I feel like it describes a relationship a Taurus would really love and appreciate.

“Before you, I’d only dated self-indulgent takers/Who took all their problems out on me/But you carry my groceries and now I’m always laughing”

Gemini (adaptable, flexible, indecisive): I Almost Do

I hate to subscribe to the two-faced Gemini ideology, so I won’t. However, they are known for being flexible, adaptable, and indecisive. In this song Taylor is torn between reconnecting with an old lover or letting them stay in the past. She can’t make up her mind, and I hate to say that a Gemini may find themselves in this situation.

“And I just wanna tell you/It takes everything in me not to call you.”

Cancer (intuitive, nurturing, caring): Begin Again

The sweet nature of this song makes me think of only one sign: Cancer. I can’t help but feel how much a Cancer would enjoy the kind and loving gestures Taylor sings about in this song. I personally think Cancers deserve the world, so this song really illustrates the kind of thoughtfulness they deserve.

“You pull my chair out and help me in/You don’t know how nice that is”

Leo (passionate, loving, energetic): Holy Ground

Not only is this one of the more upbeat and fun songs on Red, but it perfectly captures the immense love Leos have. I can really picture a Leo dancing and falling in love to this song. The infectious passion it exudes is unmatched.

“Spinning like a girl in a brand new dress/We had this big wide city all to ourselves”

Virgo (practical, diligent, grounded): The Last Time

Virgos know their worth. Even though this song is about trying one more time to make it work with this person, they also know that if it doesn’t work they won’t be coming back. They are practical and smart enough to know what they deserve.

“This is the last time I’m asking you this”

Libra (friendly, diplomatic, balanced): Everything Has Changed

Libras are notoriously one of the more flirtatious signs. They just have a naturally alluring and endearing energy that people want to be around. The back and forth romance of this song is a love story I can see a Libra being a part of. Holding doors, feeling butterflies, exchanging glances—it gives that energy of Libra love.

“All I know is you held the door, You’ll be mine and I’ll be yours”

Scorpio (emotional, mysterious, passionate): All Too Well

When I think of Scorpios I have to say “emotionally turbulent” comes to mind. A little edgier than their fellow water sign Pisces, Scorpios have a tendency to get deep into their feels. The raw emotion of this song is something I can see a Scorpio heavily relating and screaming along to.

“I’m a crumpled up piece of paper lying there/’Cause I remember it all, all, all/Too well”

Sagittarius (adventurous, spirited, magnetic): Starlight

Sagittariuses are known for their adventurous and spirited nature. They crave the freedom to explore and can easily be the center of attention. A song about sneaking into a yacht club party, dancing, dreaming, and having the night of your life seems like the perfect fit for this intrepid sign.

“The night we snuck into a yacht club party/Pretending to be a duchess and a prince”

Capricorn (focused, hardworking, serious): We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

Capricorns have a reputation for being intimidating, and honestly, they’re one of the only signs I can see writing this kind of song because if I was Jake Gyllenhaal, I’d certainly be intimidated. This song captures the kind of stubborn, blunt, honest wit of a Capricorn who has been wronged. They are not playing around.

“And I’m like, I’m just, I mean this is exhausting, you know?/Like we are never getting back together, like, ever.”

Aquarius (free-spirited, eccentric, independent): The Lucky One

Aquarius is known for being the quirky sign of the zodiacs, however you want to interpret that. They have a very unique and nonconformist way of moving through the world, and they like to do their own thing. To me, “The Lucky One” captures the feeling of someone who was praised for being exceptional, someone everybody wants to be around because they’re so interesting, but ultimately this person was used by those around them. Kind of tragic, but if anyone is going to be a tortured celebrity it would be an Aquarius.

“Everybody loves pretty, everybody loves cool.”

Pisces (sensitive, romantic, creative): Sad, Beautiful, Tragic

Not to feed into the cliche, but Pisces are known for being sensitive and emotional, and I feel like no song on Red better captures the yearning and hopeless romanticism of a Pisces than this one (I speak from experience). This is exactly the kind of a song a Pisces would wallow in their feelings to.

“Good girls, hopeful they’ll be and long they will wait.”

This is a totally arbitrary list, so please don’t take anything said here too seriously. Identify with any Red song you want, regardless of your zodiac sign. I think we can all agree that any song on this album can be enjoyed by everyone.

Sincerely,

A Pisces
