New Lo Lowdown: 6 Things to do in the New London Area

Whether you’re looking for fun things to do with friends off campus or want to show your family around on Fall Weekend, here are 10 things we love to do in the New London area:

The Mystic Aquarium: Whether you have kids coming to visit on Fall Weekend or just love all things aquatic, The Mystic Aquarium is not to be missed. From penguins to beluga whales, this aquarium has it all. Admission costs $33.95 for adults and $25.95 for children 3-17, so consider taking the day for your visit to get the most out of the experience.

Mohegan Sun: Even if you’re not 21 or gambling just isn’t your things, Mohegan Sun promises to always be entertaining. With great shops and restaurants, this casino has no shortage of things to do. If you’re looking to catch a concert, make sure to check out the Mohegan Sun website to see some of the great artists they have scheduled to appear.

Latitude 41°: Located on the banks of the Mystic River near Mystic Seaport, this restaurant has great food and stunning views. If you’re craving some fresh seafood or are looking for a place to bring visiting family, Latitude 41° is open for both lunch and dinner.

Muddy Waters Café: A great place to study, this cozy café offers delicious food for breakfast and lunch. If it’s a nice day out, consider sitting outside and taking in the view of the Thames River. Located in downtown New London, Muddy Waters is just a short drive from Conn and makes a great cup of coffee.

Olde Mistick Village: Located right near the aquarium, Mistick Village offers a variety of one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants. If you’re looking for something to spruce up your dorm room, Mistick Village offers plenty of shops with unique decorations. New to Misitck Village this year is Tiger Lily Tea, which offers high-quality, organic tea.

Frogeez: Located in both Groton and Norwich, Frogeez is the place to head if you’re craving some frozen yogurt. With an abundance of flavors, Frogeez never disappoints. If you’re a fanatic of all pumpkin flavored food, be sure to Frogeez’s seasonal Pumpkin Roll flavor.

Outside of Her Campus, I am also a part of SafetyNet, Active Minds and the Vagina Monologues. Some of my favorite activities include traveling, reading, photography, swimming, biking, going to Red Sox games, and having wine and cheese nights with friends. After graduation, I hope to teach abroad for a year and then pursue a career as a strategist at an advertising agency.
