Making the Most Out of Black Friday Sales

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Conn Coll chapter.

Black Friday is probably the best day of the year to grab great deals on all kinds of merchandise. This is hardly a secret, and the shopping holiday attracts massive crowds and long lines, with the top items often running out of stock in a matter of hours. But don’t be deterred from scoring awesome deals! I’ve assembled a list of where the best Black Friday deals will be this year, so you can score big without wasting time.

According to a study done by WalletHub, the 20 best stores for Black Friday deals this year will be, in order of greatest savings: Khols, JC Penny, Belk, Stage, Shopko, Bealls Florida, Sears, Macy’s, Fred Meyer, AAFES, Amazon, Target, Kmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Office Depot/OfficeMax, Wal-Mart, HP, Samsung, Dollar General, and Lowe’s.

Surprisingly, however, new research is showing that the best deals are not necessarily on Black Friday anymore. Many stores are starting sales on Thanksgiving day, with top products running out before Black Friday even starts! Cyber Monday (the Monday after Thanksgiving) is also a big shopping day as well, and despite the name, it may actually be better than Black Friday for clothing, cosmetics, and travel deals.

The good news is that most stores will notify consumers of the biggest sales ahead of time. So don’t be deterred by the craziness! Just plan out what you want to buy ahead of time and check out which of your favorite stores will be offering the best deals for these items. This way you will be prepared when the sales start, and you can snag your favorite products before they go out of stock!
