It’s that spooky time of year! Whether you are into the horror genre or not, Halloween movies are, indubitably, one of the best traditions of the season. Here are a few of our favorites that are sure to give you the heebie jeebies, but get you into the Halloween spirit:

  1. Annabelle

Although not formerly labeled as a “Halloween series,” I highly recommend watching the Annabelle franchise this Halloween season. Full of both jump scares and general scares, you’ll be left imprinted with paranormal thoughts and fears. The movies have little to no Halloween themes, but overall you’ll leave the movie afraid: a common theme of Halloween. However, don’t be confined to the genre of horror this Halloween season! If you dare to watch Annabelle or another horror film, finish the evening with a palate cleanser of Parks and Recreation, New Girl, or Gilmore Girls.

  1. The Nightmare Before Christmas

Filled to the brim with skeletal lyrics and slimy creatures, Tim Burton’s stop-motion classic is definitely a staple of the Halloween season. Not only does this movie draw attention for its killer soundtrack, bone-chilling visuals, and hollowing plot, but it is fully acceptable to watch for a full 85 days—from the start of the season on October 1st to the climax of the holidays on Decemer 25th. “You’re Joking,” you might be thinking, like Oogie Boogie says to Santa Claus in the film. No. I’m… dead… serious. The nostalgia and charm is what makes The Nightmare Before Christmas my favorite Halloween movie.
