Halloween is upon us and once again, we are all filled with excitement over the joys of candy and treats that await.  As a girl that is known for having a sweet tooth, Halloween comes close as a favorite holiday.  (Sorry, Christmas and Thanksgiving come before.  The food, hello!) Although I don’t go trick-or-treating anymore, as I am quite positive I would get doors slammed in my face, each year Halloween brings back the memories of when I would eat several pounds of candy in one night, and not have to worry about feelings of sickness and hatred that I now would feel the next day.  As a self-confessed chocoholic, I have compiled a list of my favorite Halloween treats.

Candy Corn
This is not something that I would actually choose, but I know that one of my friends (Lesley Gaughan) is anticipating this goodie to be on the list.  Lesley can eat candy corn by the bag, but I, on the other hand, only enjoy about five or six at a time.  Candy corn is a classic Halloween treat that I only crave during the season, but I would say that this is a situation where less is more.

Anything “King Size”
When I used to go trick-or-treating in elementary school, there were always the select houses that would give out giant king-sized candies to all the kings, honestly the best thing to ever happen to Halloween.  Maybe it’s because I grew up in a family of health freaks, but I couldn’t believe that someone would be willingly handing out something as glorious as king-sized candy bars.  This is a situation where more is more.

Snickers
Snickers are one of the best chocolate candies ever.  Even in mini-form they are still awesome because it is all the good food in the world rolled up into one.  There is something so satisfying about biting into a mouth-watering Snickers bar that other candies just don’t seem to have.

Reese’s Cups
Peanut butter and chocolate.  Do I have to say more?  When I was a child I was majorly OCD and I had to bite of all of the edges of a Reese’s Cup until only the center remained in a perfect circle.  Weird, I know, but I think it was because I just wanted it to last forever!  Reese’s Cups are another Halloween classic, although I have to say I haven’t really been a fan of all the weird variations.  Let’s keep it simple people.

Twix
Twix are fun because they have a nice, unexpected crunch to them and they were always one of the candies I would save for last after I sorted out all of my treats.  FYI, there are recipes online to make homemade Twix bars out of caramel, chocolate, and shortbread cookies which are about a thousand times better than the real thing.

Kit-Kat
If a candy commercial is so catchy that the whole world can sing along then the candy must be good, right?  Kit-Kats can be addicting because they are so crispy and fun to eat that you literally cannot stop consuming them.  Whenever this happens to me, I just tell myself that they have minimal calories because there is air inside!

Starbursts
As you can tell, I am a HUGE chocolate lover.  Gummy and sugary candies aren’t really my thing but when I do have a craving I always go to Starbursts.  When I was little I would always pick my favorite flavor (pink or red) and save them for last.  I had to stop eating them a lot because my dentist got mad after one pulled out one of my fillings. Annoying!

Skittles
I love M&Ms but they can get old quickly.  When this happens, Skittles are a great alternative.  Who wouldn’t want a candy that lets you “taste the rainbow?”
