Campus Celebrity: Dana Bergenfeld

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Conn Coll chapter.

If you see Dana Bergenfeld tap dancing around campus, it is because she is this week’s Campus Celebrity! This junior holds positions in residential life, Hillel, and SAC. The botany and pre-dental major is also a professional greenhouse waterer. Dana would love to have dinner in Times Square with a long list of comedic greats by her side and (probably…we’re guessing here) catch a Broadway show right after. Read on to learn more about this “24/7 goofball.”

Major: Botany and Pre-dental.  I have wanted to be a dentist since I was seven.  My interest in Botany began with Professor Owen with whom I now conduct research on electron microscopy and carnivorous pitcher plants.

Class year: 2017

Hometown: Mount Kisco, New York (Westchester county)

Extracurricular Activities: Housefellow of Johnson, Chief of Operations for Hillel, Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Collaboration, greenhouse waterer

What are your favorite parts of being the Housefellow of Johnson? I love my staff. I love having so many first-years and helping them adjust to Conn, and I love meeting new upperclassmen.

Embarrassing Camel Moment: It’s hard to pick just one; I’m a goofball 24/7.

Favorite Place on Campus: The greenhouse

Personal motto(s): “Everything happens for a reason,” “Don’t let anyone dull your sparkle,” and “Talk nerdy to me.”

Favorite Class or Professor at Conn: All of my Botany classes and professors, props to the Botany department.

If you could choose a world leader to have dinner with, who would you choose and where would you wine and dine?

Comedians are my world leaders. I would pick Amy Schumer and Tina Fey, all of the SNL ladies and gents, Mel Brooks, Betsey Johnson, and Seth Rogen and his wife. We would dine at Juniors Restaurant in Times Square, and I would order brie brisket with mushroom gravy and chocolate cheesecake.

Favorite Song: The entire “Something Rotten” soundtrack.  It’s a play about eggs set in Shakespeare’s time.  Also, the “Hamilton” soundtrack.  It’s rap music about Alexander Hamilton. Broadway and Disney are pretty much me in a nutshell.

Favorite Food: My perfect meal would include the following: mushrooms, red meat, and dark chocolate.

How do you feel about being Campus Celebrity?  It makes me want to tap dance.

Carolyn Cross is a junior at Connecticut College and is excited to be the Campus Correspondent for the fall! She is a Sociology major and a Psychology minor. She also plays club soccer and is in Habitat for Humanity at Conn.
