At the end of the day, lots of Camels rely on refueling with their favorite school comfort meals. Sometimes a salad or a bowl of cereal just won’t cut it for the dinner or second-dinner fix, so we try to be creative with our dining hall creations.  The next time you are hungry, spice up your meals on campus by trying out these wacky and delicious combinations. While some of these ideas may seem a bit weird, try them out! Who knows? You may discover a new favorite food!

  • Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are an all American favorite loved by both children and adults, but how about a PB&J egg white omelet?  While this breakfast food (or lunch food for that matter) sounds a bit strange, it is oddly delicious!  The egg white substitute creates a protein base instead of the carb-filled bread base, while maintaining the classic peanut butter and jelly taste!
  • Of course salad is a great staple both for dinners and lunches, but what about just a plain plate of spinach?  Milo, a first year, eats a full plate of spinach with every dinner he eats here at Conn.  This leafy green is a superfood full of protein, iron, vitamins and minerals.  Milo also notes that the spinach is quite filling, which means he eats a lot less starchy food such as pasta!
  • Peanut butter is a rich and yummy spread high in potassium and fiber. PB is often paired with jelly, fluff, and chocolate, but have you heard of peanut butter and green peppers?  Sabrina, a sophomore at Conn, likes to dip her green peppers in smooth peanut butter.  This combo is a great pre-dinner/post-practice snack that is both filling and healthy.
  • Annie enjoys a half a scoop of vanilla ice cream in her coffee each morning.  The ice cream doubles as a sweetener and creamer and creates a dessert like drink.  Often vanilla ice cream isn’t available, so Annie has to get creative with different flavors such as pumpkin and s’mores.
