There aren’t many students, much less people, around today who aren’t familiar with Netflix. Whether you’re binge watching an entire season of the funniest comedy on a lazy Sunday or trying out an old cult classic, no one is ever disappointed with Netflix. The concept of having every episode and every season of a series available at your disposal seems like the ultimate way to watch a show. Who wants to wait a week until the new episode of your favorite show airs live anyway? Apparently Netflix caught on and has taken our obsession to a whole new level. With shows like Orange Is the New Black, Netflix has given their customers another great excuse to let the next episode automatically play. Releasing an entire season at once gives customers the opportunity and instant gratification to watch it in one sitting, not that they weren’t doing that already. But now there are current shows being released for the first time to the public. It’s not like catching up on Desperate Housewives episodes from 2006. Netflix is reconstructing how television series are being broadcasted to the public with their Netflix Original Series. Who knows, maybe it’s about to change the entire industry!

Here are a few of our favorite Netflix Originals to check out over spring break!

  • House of Cards: Set in present day Washington, DC, this is the story of Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey), a Democrat from South Carolina, who was not appointed as Secretary of State and as a result, takes revenge on those who betrayed him.
  • Orange is the New Black: This series tells the story of Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), an upper middle class woman living in NYC who, 10 years ago, was arrested and sentenced to 15 months in a women’s federal prison for giving a suitcase of drug money to her former girlfriend, an international drug smuggler.
  • Arrested Development (season 4): This show is about the Bluth family, a wealthy and dysfunctional family living in Newport Beach, California. Season 4 is a revival and was filmed seven years after Fox canceled the show, so it’s safe to say that previous fans were incredibly excited by the release.

Enjoy and don’t forget to make popcorn or buy Nutella and indulge this spring break!
