Acclaimed actress and comedian Amy Poehler recently released her first memoir YES PLEASE. The book establishes an honest, and often humorous, account of Poehler’s life both as an actress and mother. In honor of her recent publication here’s a list of what makes Amy Poehler so incredible. 1. She brought major woman power to SNL. Whether it be through rocking weekend update with Seth Meyers by her side, or jamming out with real life best friend Tina Fey, Poehler lit up the stage every Saturday night. Her impressions never skipped a beat and we could always rely on her for a laugh (or 2 or 3 or 4).
2. She played the “cool mom” in Mean Girls and absolutely killed it. Although some may argue that Lindsay Lohan led this movie, we all know Amy was the real reason it became so legendary. Who could forget the real star of that Jingle Bell Rock performance?
3. And speaking of parenting…she is the best mom ever. When she’s not busy winning countless awards and starring in everything under the sun, Amy loves dedicating her time to her two sons, Abel and Archibald. So sweet!
4. She stars in one of the greatest television shows of all times. For those who haven’t seen the incredibleness that is Parks and Recreation, Poehler stars as “Leslie Knope”, a passionate city employee who puts love into just about everything she does. This award winning comedy is pretty awesomesauce and guaranteed to make you smile at least 3838829 times!
5. She hosted The Golden Globes. Twice. Even better, both times were right next to her best friend and real life sidekick Tina Fey! These two lovely ladies were so awesome hosting in 2013 that they were asked to host again last year and knocked it out of the park.
