When one of my followers on twitter tweeted early last week that we would be hit with 18-24 inches of snow, I didn’t pay much attention. By the time Monday rolled around, it didn’t even look possible. Well, Tuesday came and it didn’t look so bad. But Columbia decided to close the buildings at 2 p.m., all I could think about is finishing my work. Well, it happened. Tuesday night the snow fell and fell like it was never going to stop. Â Lake Shore Drive was closed Tuesday night, people were forced to sit in their cars and eventually leave them there…it was a mess. Then came the snow-thunder, who knew it could snow and lightening could happen at the same time? Not me.
The end result? Columbia closing its buildings Wednesday and Thursday (Loyola University went back on Thursday…how that was possible, I have no idea.) And come Friday, the streets were still a mess in certain Chicago neighborhoods and the massive snow piles were still a pain in the butt.
My wish: A big snow machine to evaporate all the snow…please?
