One forgotten fact about He-Man is that he has a twin sister. Assuming you weren’t an 80’s baby you might not even know who He-Man is, which is also worth the watch, but today, She-Ra gets the attention.

While she has her own series that ran back in the day, Netflix released a new and improved version mid-November and it’s definitely worth the watch. It’s not your basic dumb kids show, it’s complex and has enjoyable characters and problems for all ages so don’t let the cartoon aspect scare you off.

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power like the 1985 series She-Ra: Princess of Power of which itself was a reboot, the series tells the tale of the teenager Adora’s rebellion against the evil Hordak and his Horde, in the guise of the heroine She-Ra and leading a group of other magical princesses. The series was well-received by critics, who praised it for its diverse cast and the portrayal of She-Ra’s rivalry with her former best friend Catra.

If you’re looking for an easy to watch show to throw on as you study for your finals this is the one. The show also does an excellent job of showcasing diversity as well as women in leading important roles!

Stylistically the animation is new and different, drawn more cartoonish than hyper-realistic like the classic. It’s the glory of the 80s without the cringe factor. It showcases friendship, power, leadership, humor, passion for growth and isn’t afraid to wear its progressive heart on its sleeve. Ladies definitely go support your girl She-Ra because she’s one bad bitch.
