Even though we are quite a bit into the month of April, there is never a bad time to find good or new music. As a big music enthusiast, I’m always on the hunt for new music, and I’m always looking for a variety of different styles of music that anyone can have a conversation about – not just one genre like hip-hop or Top 40. So, without further ado, here is my recap of music favorite from March.

1. Healthy – PRETTYMUCH

If you haven’t heard about this group before, you are missing out. These five guys are bringing back the R&B flavor but still have those notes and vocals that match the modern music we are seeing now. The song talks about that feeling you get when you’re so infatuated with someone that it’s unhealthy for you and you can’t seem to get them out of your head no matter what you do. I think it’s safe to say that many of us have been in that situation, and I’m glad there’s a song that tells me I’m not crazy.

2. Lost in Japan – Shawn Mendes

This guy released two new songs out of nowhere, and while “In My Blood” is a hit, this song is not to be ignored. If you’re a fan of Justin Timberlake or his song, “Take Back the Night”, you will really love this one. “Lost in Japan” is different from the typical pop sound that we associate Shawn Mendes with, this new vibe works so perfectly for him. If this is just a taste of what to expect for his new album (which could drop at any moment), I can’t wait to see what else he has in store.

3. Done for Me – Charlie Puth feat. Kehlani

The funky piano and beat that goes with this song is one that just makes you want to get up and have a dance party with your friends. This collaboration is one that works so perfectly for this song that leaves me wanting more from these two! Kehlani is a forced to be reckoned with, and playing with her voice on this song with Charlie’s soulful voice makes you want to find a partner and jam out.

4. El Préstamo – Maluma

If you’re into Latin music, you will definitely love this song. This is Maluma’s latest single and it’s one that doesn’t disappoint. This brings out the reggaeton vibes that get you prepared for summer sunshine. You’ll have a great time turning up the volume in the car driving down the expressway as this tune rolls on. “Yo no lo di, yo lo presté.”

5. No Return – Jake Miller

This song just makes me feel some kind of way, and I think it will do the same for you. If you want a song that just makes you feel sexy and confident about yourself, then this is it. This song is about taking that next step with that person, and it’s one that must be played on that romantic date night when the mood is just right. I love listening to this on repeat, and something about Jake Miller’s voice is just everything in this little bit of melodic perfection. Trust me, you’ll thank me when you listen to it.

6. Like Me Better – LAUV

This song is that EDM song that I just can’t seem to get enough of right now. If you blast it, it works; if you play it softly for background noise, it works for that, too. You can never go wrong with a song like that, and the cheeky lyrics just make it a good song to listen to, especially when you’re thinking about that ~special~ person.

7. I Could Use a Love Song – Maren Morris

Now, I’ll admit, I don’t listen to country music very often. If I’m being honest, it’s very rare if I listen to it all. However,  there is something to be said about this catchy tune that makes me want to put a smile on my face and be happy. Maren Morris has such an incredible talent, and for all of my country lovers out there, I thought she deserved some recognition. If you’ve ever wanted a song that gave you a little bit of hope for love again and wanted to relate when you’re feeling low (whether a breakup or no date), this one is for you.

8. Ex-Factor (The Four Performance) – Candice Boyd

This is that one revenge song that I’ve been OBSESSED with lately, and the vocals in this version slay me in every way, shape, and form. While I give praise to the iconic Lauryn Hill for her chops, Candice Boyd singing this song just touches me in my soul and I can’t help but feel everything that she put into this song. To that one that’s done you wrong – whether an ex, a former friend or enemy – scream this one from the rooftops.

9. Something’s Gotta Give – Camila Cabello

This is that song that gets you in your feelings – and if you want a song that relates to a breakup and finally saying “enough is enough”, then this is your song. It’s such a strong ballad, it hits you in your core – you might even shed a tear or two. This song has been my karaoke song, you know the one that you just HAVE to belt out?

10. Love – Keyshia Cole

Oh, how I love a good throwback. It’s been a minute since I have listened to this song, but it always finds a way to creep back in and pack a punch. You can’t go wrong with a banger like this. This song is about finding love and then losing it. If you’re one for a big and powerful build up, give this a listen. Keshia plays no games.
