Why You Should Defy Norms with Janelle Monàe this Saturday at Rule Breakers Festival

This Saturday, September 22nd, Janelle Monàe will perform at the brand-spanking new music festival, Rule Breakers, created by Bustle. If you haven’t heard, Bustle is a fabulous women’s media company and they’ve put together an empowering event which you cannot miss!

Show up to hear Dirty Computer, featuring the women’s anthem Pynk. Show up for GRAMMY-nominated Sofi Tukker, DJ Samantha Ronson and multi-faceted Va$htie. Above all, show up for roller skating, Instagrammable food, group mediation and the mere chance to escape the Morningside Bubble.

On a more serious note: Janelle Monàe is the definition of rule-breaker; Bustle is and Barnard/Columbia women certainly are. Expanding an entire issue of Bustle focused on rule-breaking and defying the norm, Rule Breakers is a chance to show the world who’s boss.

It’s not just a festival, it’s a day of immersion and celebration. Because rules were meant to be broken. Let’s destroy them together.

I’ll be there living it up, breaking rules, and dancing my heart out, will you?
