Final’s week is here and I’ll do anything but study, especially if it involves running down to Trader Joe’s to stock up on some must-have snacks. Here are five of my favourite picks to get you through the last week:
(P.S. We’re almost there!)
- Hashbrowns
These have single handedly got me through freezing winter mornings when it was too cold to walk to Diana for their BEC. When shallow fried, they turn out a beautiful golden brown with the perfect crisp. I like to dip them in a ketchup-mustard concoction but they melt in your mouth just as well if eaten alone.

- Raspberry Oat Bites
This is that very specific kind of snack that lives in the blurry territory between breakfast and dessert. Wholesome enough to eat before noon but satisfying enough to actually crave after dinner. These are small, round, soft-baked bites made with rolled oats and real raspberries. They are perfectly nutty with that oozing jammy raspberry center.
Price: $3.99
- Speculoos Cookie Butter
Made with ground Belgian Speculoos cookies blended into a smooth, spreadable jar of joy. It tastes like warm spice, caramel and shortbread all at once. Spread it on toast, drink it in a warm glass of milk or lick it directly off a spoon (we’ve all been there). TJ’s also carries an ice cream version perfect for the upcoming summer days.
Price: $4.49
- Freeze Dried Strawberry Pieces
Here’s one that sounds completely modest on the label but overdelivers in taste. I kid you not, this tastes more like strawberries than actual strawberries. The main selling point though is the texture, the yogurt coating is soft and creamy and then you’re hit by the crunch of the frozen dried fruit. It’s sweet and tangy and the candy of your dreams.
Price: $4.99
- Breaded Cheddar Cheese Curds
Molten cheddar cheese encased in perfectly seasoned breadcrumbs. What more could you ask for? And this one crisps up perfectly in the oven or an air fryer. Dip in marina sauce or drizzle some truffle oil on top to take this to the next level.
Price: $4.99
Happy hunting! And may your cart never go above budget. (Mine never does. This is a lie.)
