Feeling a girly, pop song? I have the perfect one for you.

Zee Avi brings musical color, fun rhythms and scat to her song “Bitter Heart” that will maybe not make you want to rage, but definitely hum along to. This song, which imbues a “Zippity Doo Da” vibe, will be a good start to your morning, a song that will relax you as you write a paper or just when you’re cleaning up your unorganized school desk. #guiltyascharged. I will say however, that the song’s sweet melody belies its lyrics which talk about her impatience and “bitter heart.” Perhaps that is the only strange element of this great tune– her line about children falling “down, down down.” Quite the uncanny similarity with the song, “Ring Around the Rosie” (aka the “children’s song” that we all know and love, that is really about the Bubonic Plague). Regardless, take the song at face value and simply enjoy it!

Oh…and she’s Malaysian. Pretty damn cool, no?
