Because it is the second week of November, I am cleared to be a Christmas phanatic. Time for Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You,” rocking out to Trans-Siberian Orchestra and, of course, watching all the Christmas movies. How the Grinch Stole Christmas just so happens to be my favorite. Why? Definitely not because Dr. Suess and I are pretty much birthday buddies (but we are one day apart, just FYI). It’s because the Grinch is just so damn relatable.

Jim Carrey’s portrayal of Dr. Seuss’s character is a grump named the Grinch who lives in a house on the top of Mt. Krumpit in Whoville. With Christmas around the corner, a shrunken heart and well-deserved resentment for the holiday, he decides to dress up as Santa and steal Christmas. There is a heartfelt message about his heart growing, Cindy Lou — who is portrayed by Taylor Momsen, the same actress that portrayed Jenny in Gossip Girl — tries to recognize him as a person, etc. What I enjoy most about this movie is just the overall, over-it attitude from the Grinch.

So for this article, I’ve decided to pull the five most relatable quotes from the Grinch. Take it as you will, I think we have a little bit of the Grinch in all of us.

Bored eating? Thanks, Mo Will’s.

Bored eating is probably the reason all of my cute clothes don’t fit anymore. The Grinch is also stuck with this fate.

OK, Boomer.

With Fortnite, horror movies, and all these murder flicks, the Grinch acknowledges that today’s children are just simply not normal. He is your typical #OKBoomer kinda guy.

Crying? In college?

School is hard; we all know it. So why not follow the Grinch in scheduled self-pity? Everyone’s secretly crying in Butler anyway; why not make it official?

Party attire gone wrong

Every teenage girl (and boy?) has had this moment: You’re pumped for the Beta party but cannot find your cute fit. Might as well just not go.

Woke Grinch

Obviously, he is as woke as that one person in your Barnard classes who thinks they know everything, but who really just watched The Help.
