I know Columbia is all about Tinder these days, but hear me out for a second while I offer you a less creepy alternative. (Because, I kid you not, someone I hardly know [who doesn’t even attend this school] once facebook messaged me saying they saw a girl on Tinder, noted that I was their mutual friend and wondered if I could “hook that up.” No. No I cannot and will not.)
SO, without any further ado, let me introduce “Scrush,” a matchmaking app that was just released, which gives you much more power over the matches you find. The general concept is the same as Tinder (I’m not trying to ruin all your fun), except you have the ability to specify where you are looking for matches, as opposed to simply casting a net “in your area.” This app is about to be the biggest campus celebrity on the very romantically challenged Columbia campus!Â
Let’s say you were just invited to a big party on facebook, and are wondering if there will be any cuties there to make the night memorable. Log into Scrush (which is connected to your facebook account) and select that event in which to search for matches. Then you get to do that fun, swipey Tinder thing that you all love so much, and find out if any of your secret crushes (i.e. “scrushes,” get it?) feel the same way!
You can also limit or widen the search area to include anyone who attends your school, has checked into a certain bar that night, and various other possible locations where you can find matches. No more getting matched with the man who owns the deli beneath your second cousin’s apartment for you!
