I know that with every student’s crazy schedule, certain things slip our minds, especially basics like staying healthy and hydrated. When I’m on the go, I love sipping on light and hydrating green drinks! I have compiled a list of the best green drinks and smoothies from some of my favorite juice shops around the city. They are extremely easy to grab on the run and taste delicious. Also, for those living off-campus, the ingredients are very easy to obtain and it is easy to recreate your favorite recipes at home!

JUICE PRESS:

  1. Juice → MOTHER EARTH: cucumber, celery, kale, swiss chard, dandelion, parsley, lemon, ginger

  2. Juice → GINGER TURMERIC TONIC: ginger, turmeric, lemon, cardamom, cayenne, spearmint, honey, sea salt

  3. Smoothie → CHOCOLATE PROTEIN (because who doesn’t love chocolate?): cacao, chocolate chips, plant protein, almond butter, cinnamon, hemp seeds, banana, coconut nectar, homemade almond milk

  4. Juice → LUCKY SEVEN: beet, ginger, carrot, orange, pineapple, apple, lemon

  5. Smoothie → F$%#ING GENIUS BLUEBERRY: blueberry, plant protein, flaxseed, chia, vanilla, almond extract, date, banana, homemade almond milk

JOE & THE JUICE:

  1. Joe’s Identity → cucumber, kale, broccoli, spinach, lemon

  2. Young Blood → celery, lemon, apple

  3. Go away doc → carrot, ginger, apple

  4. Joe’s Amg → apple, mint, ginger

  5. Energizer → red grapefruit, ginger, apple

For my fellow Barnard and Columbia students, a couple of juice places closer to campus are Strokos and Pressed Juicery! Whether you choose to try out one of these places, compare all of them, or decide to make your own combinations at home, green drinks are high in chlorophyll, which is known to aid digestion, detox your liver, and strengthen your immune system. Stay healthy and happy sipping!
