Beauty and Fashion Blogger: Roxanne Adamiyatt

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Columbia Barnard chapter.

Our celeb for this week is a writer who loves to express herself through the medium of internet writing. Meet Roxanne Adamiyatt, and if you like what you see, check out her fashion blog!

1) What is your claim to fame?
Well, I’m sheepish to say it’s my claim to “fame” (a girl can dream though, right?), but I guess having started my own personal style blog, Diamonds-for-Breakfast.blogspot.com, is mine. Through my blog, I have been featured on FabSugar as their look of the day a couple of times, and that was incredibly exciting!
2) How did you get involved in blogging?
A few years ago my mom suggested that I start a personal style blog, so naturally I brushed it off. However, last year I became addicted to personal style blogs (i.e. Manrepeller, Atlantic-Pacific), and really started to experiment with my personal style. I realized that starting a blog would be a wonderful outlet to display and develop my own aesthetic.
3) What inspires you to write?
I don’t always include writing in my blog, but when I do I am aware of the fact that quite often, writing about fashion and style can make it seem unattainable and scary. I try to write in a way that makes experimenting with a trend or style seem more approachable and less daunting.
4) How does Barnard influence you and your style?
Barnard’s campus is full of stylish ladies. If I’m lacking inspiration, I need look no further than the four-o-clock exodus across campus to see wonderfully dressed women scurrying to class. If I see a girl wearing something in a way that I wouldn’t have thought to style it, I always make a note of it, and try to modify it to my personal style. After all, fashion is all about give and take!
5) Where do you see yourself in five years?
Hopefully in five years time, I’ll be working in the fashion industry either self-employed by my blog and as a stylist, or will be doing editorial work at some sort of publication. But, who knows? For now I’m just ecstatic to take every new opportunity that comes my way!
6) What’s your power outfit?
If you know me, then you know that I’m not big on pants. So, my power outfit involves some sort of a mini dress, opaque tights, along with a blouse, sweater, or cool jacket layered together to mix up the look. I usually wear loads of cocktail rings, bracelets and jewels of any kind. I style myself with the idea that accessories instantly polish a look and add variation to an outfit when I feel drab– any outfit can become a power ensemble when you add the right accessories!
