As final paper due dates approach and exam week inches closer, we can’t help but daydream about summer. We all have our favorite summer spots, but one that is a notorious New England vacation destination is Nantucket Island off of Cape Cod. With beautiful beaches, amazing food, and exciting activities, Nantucket has a lot to offer. Keep reading to learn about all the must-hit spots on the Island!

Places:

Madaket Beach

Home of the most beautiful sunsets on Island. Millie’s is just a short walk from the sand, so grab your sandwich and beverage of choice, bring a blanket, and enjoy the sunset with your friends and family. During the day, Madaket is usually a bit less crowded than Cisco and Surfside Beaches in peak season, and in May and June it’s almost completely empty. This beach is beautiful and has those real waves that those of us living on the Long Island Sound don’t get everyday.

Townpool

Townpool is a store downtown that provides customers with a unique experience as well as unique products. With different beach accessories, clothes, and bathing suits, Townpool is a must for any new island-goer.

Steps Beach

Steps beach is a beautiful destination for an early evening walk or a full day at the beach. At the top of the stairs you get a beautiful view of the beach along with some Nantucket Greenery.

Food:

Cru

This restaurant is the epitome of Nantucket. Cru is located on Straight Wharf, so customers get a beautiful view of the ocean. As you watch the different boats and ferries pull into the harbor, enjoy a large plate of oysters and a delicious lobster roll.

Nantucket Hotel

Sweet tooth after dinner? Head over to Nantucket Hotel for a drink and fondue plate by a fire pit. A perfect way to end the night on ACK.

Lola 41

This restaurant opens at 4 for reservation calls and you’ll want to be first in line. From gnocchi to burgers to sushi, Lola has it all. For a change of setting head more inland on Island to Lola Burger and indulge in one of the best burgers you’ll ever try.

Lemon Press

There’s nothing more refreshing than a smoothie bowl and avocado toast to revive you after a sunburn. This trendy and aesthetically pleasing joint is the perfect place to refuel while shopping on Main Street or before hopping on the ferry home.

The Juice Bar

Probably the most infamous place on nantucket, The Juice Bar. The line that wraps around the corner of The Sunken Ship is always worth it. Try to get a different flavor every time–and ask for plenty of samples. BUT you cannot forget to order a homemade waffle cone–it’ll change your life.

Activities:

Cisco Brewers

The best destination for a guaranteed fun time. This rustic brewery has live music, beer tastings, and tours. Stocked with 3 bars serving craft beer, wine, and drinks you’ll never want to leave. There’s always food trucks and pop-ups and apparel available that make for a social event you won’t want to miss.

Surfing at Cisco Beach

The friendly and encouraging instructors will provide you with a wetsuit and a surfboard while walking you through all you need to know about being a beginner surfer. So put on some zinc and embrace your Soul Surfer and ride the wives of Nantucket!

Biking through the Island

Bike paths line almost all main roads on Nantucket. It’s not a huge island so biking across Island in one day is a common activity for the active-type. Biking with your friends through the Island will not only be a fun and memorable experience, but it’s also a great work out to work off all the food you enjoyed at the Brewery.

Hydrangeas and Cobblestone

Finally, enjoy the view! Walk over the cobblestone on Main Street and take in all of the beautiful shades of hydrangeas. There’s truly no place like the streets of Nantucket, so take it all in!
