Spring Break Packing Essentials

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Colgate chapter.

FINALLY, it’s here. The week we’ve all been waiting for. Just when we thought we couldn’t handle one more day of freezing cold weather and snowfall, it’s time for spring break!  Before everyone goes jetting off to tropical locations for some wild fun in the sun, be sure to pack these items in your suitcase to ensure that your vacation will be stress-free and fun!

  1. Sunblock Okay, slightly obvious … but nobody wants to be the girl stuck inside the hotel room the second day of the trip covered in aloe-vera and peeling because they got fried in the sun on day one!  Try Hawaiin Tropic Shimmer Effect sunscreen; it comes in various SPF’s and gives a subtle shimmer to your skin that reflects sunlight, making you as radiant as ever as you bask on the beach.
  1. TWO bathing suits– Another obvious one, but hear me out: no one wants to wear a wet bathing suit over and over again- ew.  Not to mention you don’t want tan lines from rocking the same suit every day.  Better yet, mix and match tops and bottoms of different two-pieces so you don’t get sick of the same swimsuits over and over.  Check out Victoria’s Secret for a wide variety of cute swimwear.
  1. Beach Tote Odds are you’ll be spending most of your day by the pool/ocean and won’t want to be making trips back to your hotel room every ten minutes for something you forgot.  Bring a big beach bag that you can toss everything you need in so that you can make the most of the sunshine all day long without interruption.
  1. Cover up- So you can go back and forth from your room to the beach every morning/night and so you don’t have to change out of a bathing suit whenever you go to grab lunch.  A cover up is perfect to throw on with flip-flops for a beach walk, a day of shopping, or when the sun is getting a little too intense.  A lot of them can even double as a cute dress for going out at night!
  1. Advil- Hey, ya never know.  Someone (if not everyone) is going need it at some point or another during the trip, perhaps after waking up from an afternoon nap after a margarita or two too many at the swim-up bar.  Trust me, you’ll be happy you packed your own and aren’t paying $14 for a tiny pack of it from the hotel general store.

With these items packed for break you can’t lose.  Be safe and have fun everyone! Have a great spring break!
