Spring—and Basic Instagram Captions—Come to Hamilton

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Colgate chapter.

Spring has officially sprung in Hamilton, with temperature highs above 60 degrees three times in the past week. While it looks like we’re done dealing with cancelled cruisers and ice skating down the hill in front of Frank, the new season promises new challenges: specifically, dealing with the ongoing epidemic of basic spring-related Instagram captions brought on by this past Fraturday. True, the weather was gorgeous, the sun was shining, and you finally got to break out that cute crop top you’ve been waiting to debut sans fracket. The real W of your day, though, was getting that fire Insta without having to think of your own original caption when you finally woke up at 1 p.m. on Sunday. With so many to choose between, from the classic “Def not missing the snow rn lol” to a flirty “Hey sun, u up? ;)” to the punny “Got a little spring in my step” to, if you were feeling particularly edgy, “Not another caption abt spring, you’re welcome haha,” how could you possibly resist? Select your favorite saying, stir in a frat house porch, add a dash of red Solo cups—bonus points if you can get Taylor Lake in the background—and you’ve got the perfect recipe to hit your next “like” milestone. While it’s true that April showers bring May flowers, they’re also harbingers of cringey Easter puns, wearing the same olive jacket as everyone else on campus, and actually having to shave your legs. Happy Instagramming, ladies—enjoy the opportunity to post cute, springy Instas before bikini pic season arrives.
