Have you noticed the growing popularity of celebrity men with one finger nail painted? Ever wondered what this fashion statement was about? Well, look no further because we are here to explain this new trend.
YGAP is an International Development non-profit that works to alleviate poverty. The Polished Man is a project through YGAP to help end violence against children. According to YGAP, one in every five children fall victim to physical or sexual violence before they turn 18. YGAP believes men should be spearheading this project in order to raise awareness of this issue. Men perpetrate 90% of all sexual violence against children, but instead of blaming males, YGAP wants men to lead the way: “one man-i-cure at a time”. It all starts with painting a fingernail. That nail will lead to a conversation that could inspire a donation, and better yet, create more followers who want to end the violence. The funds raised through Polished Man are funneled into trauma recovery and trauma prevention programs for children who have suffered or are at risk of suffering from violence globally.
