“WHY did I do that?!” Unfortunately, we’ve all thought this to ourselves on more than one occasion. Let’s be real, this dreadful question pops into your mind at least twice a week. Immediate feelings of regret and shame wash over you as you reflect on your poor decisions from the night before. Get your minds out of the gutter! Believe it or not, I’m not referencing the classic cliché of waking up next to a less than pleasant looking stranger commonly known as the college one night stand. I’m talking about something even worse … the rock bottom part of drunken escapades. A girl’s worst nightmare: the inevitable drunk eating binge. Regardless of how regimented we are throughout the week with our gym routines and supply of artfully nutritious and low cal salads, almost every girl falls victim to an overindulgent episode of barbaric pigging out at the end her night. I suppose you could argue that while in a drunken state, our judgment is impaired and we fall to our most basic instincts. We want what we want. And for some reason, after a night of heavy drinking, we want the most unhealthy, carbohydrate and fat loaded snack at our disposal. Whatever. The more important question is how do we prevent or at least limit the occurrences of these dieting atrocities? I’ve compiled a list of popularized recommendations for avoiding the daunting drunk binge:

  1. Make sure only healthy options are most accessible for when you return.
  2. Don’t go home to your kitchen- sleep out ;)
  3. Put yourself straight to bed.
  4. Leave your credit card at home to avoid any late night purchases on the walk back—yes, that means no SLICES.
  5. Fill up on water—also treats a hangover before it starts (hitting two birds with one stone!)
  6. Enlist your friends as dietary monitors at the end of the night

Of course, these tips don’t address the issue of having money at our disposal with our unlimited access to our gate cards. Treating yourself once in a while isn’t going to kill you, but at some point you need to tell yourself you’ll regret it in the morning. Wouldn’t you rather indulge soberly? At least then you’ll fully enjoy your slice and remember its greasy, delicious taste the next day.
