The LBP (Little Black Pant)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Colgate chapter.

We all know the importance of having a LBD in our closets, but what about the LBP?  The LBP (Little Black Pant) is an underrated item, yet it’s an absolute essential. Admit it, what else do you turn to when you can’t put an outfit together? While wearing black can get monotonous at times, there’s no denying that it matches with everything (how many times have you worn black leggings this week?).  Luckily, there are numerous different LBP styles so you’re bound to find one to become a staple to your wardrobe. Here’s a list of my favorite LBPs.

1. The “Mason” Ponte Knit Pant by BCBGMAXAZRIA feels like a legging, but fits like a pant. Truly the best pant to wear with a tunic or oversized sweater.

2.I love J Brand jeans; they’re great for girls with curves as well as those with slender figure. These J Brand Black Denim Leggings are pretty similar but I’d say they’re even better than J Brand’s jeans- if that’s possible. These denim leggings are slimming and they have a stretchy feel- unlike real denim which can get uncomfortable.

3. Bloomingdale’s exclusive brand Aqua has so many fashionable essentials for great prices, including these Skinny Pants.  These pants have hidden zip/hook closure so they’re great for dressy to casual occasions, like a presentation or meeting with a professor.  Just add a blazer and you’ll look chic yet professional!

4. Wide leg pants are a major trend this fall, so it isn’t surprising that Alice and Olivia made one of the best LBPs.  While long legged girls can pull off the wide leg with flats, wide leg pants require heels for us shorter girls. These pants are good for a job interview or something just as dressy.

5. Cords are a classic item for fall.  When I think of the best fall pants to wear,J.Crew High-waisted Skinny Corduroys are the first that come to mind.  Add a skinny belt, Frye boots and a plaid flannel and you’ll look like you belong in the J.Crew catalogue- or at a Colgate tailgate.  Whatever the case may be, it’s clear that J.Crew has reinvented the style of cords this season with these comfortable and chic black pants.
