Help Stop Gender Inequality at Colgate

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Colgate chapter.

Have you ever noticed that when you go to a mixer, there seems to be so many more guys than girls? Well, it’s because there are. For every guy, there are three girls. Men think they are entitled to rule this campus, but can you really blame them? It’s not there fault that there are 6 fraternities and only 3 sororities. Colgate’s male-dominated culture creates a unbalanced social dynamic that makes many girls feel inferior. Having more sororities would help solve this problem and that’s why students are asking the administration to reconsider expansion with this survey: http://www.change.org/petitions/stop-institutionalized-gender-inequality-at-colgate. Please take a minute to help show the administration, faculty, and board of trustees that we deserve to have gender equality at Colgate.
