Hometown: Sudbury, Massachussetts
Major: Sociology and Anthropology
Minor: Spanish
Activities on Campus: I am a member of Groove Dance Troupe which performs in and organizes Dancefest, Colgate Dance Team which dances at sporting events and Dancefest, and Kuumba which also performs in Dancefest. I also share my love of dance with the Hamilton community by teaching a hip hop class for elementary aged students at the Hamilton Center for the Arts. Outside of dance I have helped to organize community service events, such as the Relay for Tay to benefit pediatric cancer, the Tackle Cancer flag football tournament, and Condoms and Candy to promote sexual health. I started dancing when my parents put me in a tap and ballet class when I was 3, and I haven’t stopped dancing since!
Favorite thing about Dancefest: My favorite thing about Dancefest is getting to perform for my peers and show what the dance groups have been working toward all semester, and getting to see my family who always comes to watch and support me!
Role Model: Britney Spears. She is an amazing dancer and performer, and even though she’s had her share of tough publicity and personal meltdowns, she’s never let it stop her. She’s continued to have a successful career after a lot of criticism, and I really admire that.
Guilty Pleasure: Chocolate and reruns of the OC!
Favorite Quote: “Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” -Marilyn Monroe
Favorite Place to Eat in Hamilton: Hamilton Eatery
Favorite Song to Dance to: Lose Control by Missy Elliot with Dance Team!
Dancefest is this Friday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Colgate Memorial Chapel. Come to see Hailey and the Colgate dance groups perform!
