Daylight Saving Means We Get an Extra Hour – Here’s What to Do With it!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Colgate chapter.

Did you know that it’s daylight savings already? And because we’re falling back and not spring-ing forward, here are three activities to help fill that extra hour in your day!

1 – Go See a Movie

The Hamilton Movie Theater is showing some excellent options this Sunday! If you’re not quite ready to let go of the Halloween spirit, go check out Five Nights at Freddy’s for a good scare. Another good new release in the realm of drama and crime is Killers of the Flower Moon, starring a familiar face from many classics, Leonardo Decaprio. Lastly, if you want to sing your heart out while watching the most talked about concert right now, go immerse yourself in the Taylor Swift – Eras Tour movie. No matter what, a walk to the Hamilton Movie Theater in town could give you a nice study break outside to enjoy the crisp fall air before it gets too cold.

2 – Get Brunch with Friends

Grabbing a delicious brunch with a few friends is the perfect way to start off a new week. Even just right down the hill in Hamilton, there are some great places to look. First off, Flour and Salt is a Colgate classic. Their wide variety of bagel selections and array of topping choices, coupled with their iconic drink menu make for the perfect mid-morning meal. Some other amazing options could include a typical yet outstanding brunch meal at Broad Street Diner. Additionally, if you’re just looking to grab a coffee or something quick to-go, check out Fojo Beans or Dunkin.

3 – Catch Up on Sleep

With midterms finally in the past and Family Weekend coming to a close, a few more hours of sleep might be just what you need to reset. Or a peaceful afternoon nap might be a perfect way to combat those Sunday scaries lingering from the nights before. Even just one extra hour can let your mind relax for a little and possibly give you more energy for the week to come!

Daylight savings often ends up sneaking up on us before we even see it coming. Hopefully these ideas will let you take advantage of that extra hour and make the most of your time at Colgate!
