Personally, I think that the absolute worst part of winter is the dryness and redness it brings to my skin.  Every winter I fear the below freezing days as I know my face will break out in dry patches and flakiness. However, there are a few great products that help combat the cold.

1. CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

In the Winter, it is important to use a facial moisturizer that is a little bit thicker than your usual moisturizer.  I swear by this cream and put it all over my face, emphasizing the especially dry areas around my eyes and mouth. This cream is $12 and will last you the entire winter and beyond, and you can find it at any CVS or Walgreens type store.

2. CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser

Although you might feel that washing your face will just make it even more dry, it is important to wash your face to get rid of any dead skin which might be building up and could cause pimples.  This foaming face wash is perfect for all skin types as it does not cause excess oil, but it also does not strip your face of its oils and cause dryness. The bubbles formed when the soap meets water really make me feel like I am getting a deep clean.  This cleanser is around $10 and is also available at CVS.

3. Clarisonic Mia 2

The Clarisonic comes with a plush and gentle brush head with bristles that oscillate to remove any excess oil or dry skin; it even works in the hard to reach areas! Since the Clarisonic is so gentle, you don’t have to worry about it harming sensitive skin.  If you aren’t happy with the standard brush head it comes with, there are also many different types of brush heads sold separately. My personal favorite is the Acne Brush Head because it is very gentle and perfect for keeping your skin clear in the winter. The Clarisonic is $169 and worth every penny as it lasts forever.

4. Fresh Sugar Lip Polish

Nothing is worse than talking to someone and knowing that your lips are flaky.  You want to lick them, but you know that will only make it worse. Fresh Sugar Lip Polish is a scrub that will remove all of the dead skin from your lips and keep your lips smooth even in the coldest months by preventing moisture loss.  The scrub is $24 and can be found at makeup stores such as Sephora or places such as Nordstrom.

5. SkinCeuticals Clarifying Clay Masque

When you just want to stay warm inside, use this face mask and give yourself a spa day!  Wash your face before applying this mask and then leave it on for ten to fifteen minutes.  It begins as a soft, cool texture and then hardens as time passes. When time is up, use warm water to wash the mask off!  Your skin will feel smooth and free of any dead skin cells or redness.

These products could work great used together, or all on their own!  If used together, begin with the facial cleanser, then follow with the Clarisonic, then mask, then moisturizer, and end with the lip scrub!  I have used all of them to combat dry skin and strongly recommend each product!
