When did you first start to DJ? Why? I have always loved music and have always wanted to become a DJ/Producer. The summer after my senior year in high school, I interned for a music booking agency, which naturally led me to book many shows on campus. Through booking shows, I became a part of Protoculture, the on-campus DJ group. They took me under their wing and taught me the basics of DJing. From there it was just a matter of practice.
Who is your favorite DJ/Producer? I am a huge fan of a lot of the major Djs and producers who are popular today; however, due to Warp 1.9, Turbulence, and I’m in the House, I have to say Steve Aoki is my favorite.
What kind of music is your favorite to use when DJing? My favorite type of music to DJ with is heavy electro and classic European techno. However, due to the type of events on campus, I typically play a lot of poppy top 40 remixes.
Tell us about your internship in the music field. I interned at NUE Agency, a boutique music booking agency in NYC, booking artists such as Mike Posner, Wale, Chiddy Bang, and many others. It was an unbelievable experience with some of the most inspirational people I have ever met. This internship was a true spring-board for my career in the music industry.
Where do you DJ on campus? I DJ throughout campus. It all depends on what organization needs a DJ at the time. I am more than happy to DJ any event no matter what the theme.
Is there a recording studio on campus? There is an incredible music studio in the basement of the library and also a Protoculture room in the Hall of Presidents. Both are open to all students on campus.
