5 Fun Ways to Eat Matzo

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Colgate chapter.

Passover is right around the corner. For all of you practicing jews or plain lovers of matzo the unleavened bread can be spiced up or transformed for any meal of the day! Here’s a fun list of new matzo meal recipes and ideas. Happy Passover!

1. Matzo Pizza

This is one of the best and simplest go to recipes. Simply microwave tomato slices, basil, minced garlic, mozzerella or your personal cheese preference and a drizzle of olive oil. Bam! you’ll have a margherita pizza in Hebrew heaven.

2. Peanut Butter and Banana Matzoh Toast

Another simple trick. Slab on some peanut butter, chop up a banana and sprinkle cinnamon over a warm strip of matzo. This is perfect for breakfast!

3. Sweet and Salty Matzo Brittle

Another easy trick, pour maple syrup and sea salt over your matzo slice and bake it in the oven until it is golden for the perfect mix of salty and sweet. Don’t be afraid to add additional dried fruit or nuts on top.

4. S’Matzo

The best take on s’mores, replace the graham cracker with a piece of matzo and you know the rest! Roast a marshmallow over a stove top and microwave a few blocks of hershey’s chocolate bars.

5. Matzo Apple Crumble

In a bowl, slice up an up and smash it lightly until it has reached a thick consitency. Add either ground “all spice” which includes ground cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves. Then drizzle some maple syrup and a touch of sugar. Break the matzo into small pieces and crumble ontop of the bowl of apple mixture. Heat up in the microwave and enjoy the crumbly-goodness.
