With summer right around the corner, some students may be starting their first internship!  It’s exciting to be in a new work environment, but dressing for it can be overwhelming in the beginning. Here are some tips for making business casual look trendy:

1. Plaid Pants

I’ve seen the grey plaid pant everywhere.  It’s a classic, high waisted, go-to pant that pairs perfectly with a black or white top tucked in. As an added bonus, pants are much more comfortable to wear when you’re on the go and working all day.

2. Light Blazer

Although jackets are more expensive, they tend to become a great investment because they are versatile and last a long time.  I recommend a neutral color like black, white, beige, or light grey. This way you will be able to wear it with even more outfits!  Aritzia has some very good quality light blazers for women that are extremely cute, like the Macauley Short Blazer, but definitely look for sales before buying!

3. Patterned Scrunchies

There are just some days when I don’t want to go through the hassle of doing my hair, so I resort to a ponytail or bun.  It’s so easy to step up this look though, use a patterned scrunchie! I love the flower patterns, but there are also many cute color block patterns.  Forever 21 has great ones, like this Satin Floral Scrunchie for only $1.90!

4. Colored Midi Skirt

Skirts and dresses that are trendy but also appropriate for a work environment can be difficult to find. Luckily, Amazon Prime’s GRACE KARIN brand has some $20 midi pencil skirts that has great reviews!

5. Comfortable Shoes!

If you’re walking around all day, or have to walk far to your office, then wearing comfortable shoes is a necessity.  There are tons of flats that can still look super professional, without the added pain from pumps.

6.  Dusty Rose

There are many different ways to incorporate this color into your outfit.  It could be a purse, tank, hat, lip gloss, or even a nail color! I’ve recently found my favorite nail polish color: OPI’s Somewhere Over The Rainbow Mountain!  It’s a perfect mix between a nude and a pink, and it works with any outfit.
