Class year: 2013
Major: Government
HCC: Where are you from?
I’m from Winchester Massachusetts, a small town 15 miles South of Boston.
HCC: How did you end up at Colby?
I visited Colby while I was vacationing in Maine during my junior year of high school. I thought the campus was really beautiful and everyone I talked to was really nice so I decided to apply. I’m really glad I was accepted!
HCC: How are you enjoying your senior fall?
My senior fall has been very exciting and rewarding. By the time you get to be a senior, you get to pick classes that are specific to your interests. I’m also writing a thesis for one of my favorite professors. The thesis process is involved, but I’m hoping the final product will be something I can be proud of. It has also been awesome living with five of my friends in a six man in the Alfond Apartments. The room is huge and we all have a lot of fun together.
HCC: What is your favorite part about fall on campus and in Maine?
Colby’s campus is gorgeous in the fall, as is the entire state of Maine. Everyone should take a walk down the front steps of Miller Library at some point this fall and really just appreciate the view.
HCC: What do you think you will miss most when you leave the Hill?
My friends and my professors. As a freshman, I know it seems hard to believe that a graduating senior would miss his professors as much as his friends, but the relationships I have formed with my professors over the last three years are extraordinary. We are lucky to go to a school like Colby where the professors generally care about how we are doing as students and as people.
HCC: Speaking of which, do you already have plans for when you graduate?
After I graduate, I’m hoping to go to law school. I just finished taking the LSAT test (essentially the SAT for law school) and haven’t gotten my scores back so I don’t really know what schools I’m going to be looking at.
HCC: On a lighter note, do you know what you are being for halloween?
Honestly, I don’t know what I’m being for Halloween. I’m sure my roommates and I will figure out something soon.
HCC: Your advice for making the most of Halloween celebrations on campus?
As for my advice on how to make the most of Halloween celebrations on campus, I would say to remember the Halloween celebration encapsulates at least the entire week in which October 30th falls. With that said, party responsibly and watch out for your friends. Other than your diploma, they’re the only thing you’re going to take with you when you graduate from Colby.
