Spring break is over and we have less than 2 months until the end of school. That means less than 2 months until shorts, bathing suits, and teeny tiny tops all summer. It’s time to start packing up those earmuffs, scarves, and mittens for your outside workouts and welcome in your summer exercise gear. Here are our top 5 transition pieces from the cold to spring!

  1. Loose the length. Those long pants may be vital for the winter walks to the gym or the cold runs through town, but it’s about time to shorten up those pants and move to crops! Cropped workout pants are great because you have a lot of movement and more room by your feet. If you’re short like me and don’t have
time to hem your workout pants the added length by your sneakers could really be annoying. Now that it is warming up and the snow is almost all gone, trade in your long pants for a pair of cropped pants! These Lululemon crops are great because the slit in the back allows for more movement. (Lululemon $86)
  2. Be a fashionista. Why not incorporate your favorite styles, like the burnout tee, into your gym apparel. Look for a top that is light, comfortable, and versatile without loosing its stylish edge. This adidas by Stella
McCartney top is exactly this. The fit is relaxed, the leopard burnout print is stylish, and the white color is versatile. (adidas $70)
  3. Invest in your feet. After a winter of running on a treadmill or the wet snowy pavement it’s time to get a new pair of shoes. It’s impossible for me to suggest a certain type since we all have different feet, but if you know which sneakers you like stick with that brand! If you haven’t liked your recent sneaker choice go to a store and ask for help. Keep the spring spirit alive by choosing a bright colored shoe or trading the boring white laces for neon laces! (Usually around $100)
  4. Keep yourself dry! April showers bring May flowers, so when you’re waiting for spring’s flowers to bloom
keep yourself dry with a waterproof jacket. The key to finding the right waterproof jacket is making sure you’re actually picking a jacket that is specifically for the rain, you don’t want to just choose a jacket that feel like a raincoat because it might not be very waterproof. The next thing is to make sure that it is lightweight; otherwise you will be very hot and uncomfortable while running, biking, or anything else outside. This new Nike jacket is great because it is light, waterproof, and bright to make sure you are seen when running in the foggy rain. (Nike $100)
  5. Perk up with color. No need to wear boring solid colors that are just “blahh” at the gym, get going with a burst of color! A long sleeve top is a must-have for your spring workout wardrobe in Maine. You can throw it on over a top for a run outside or for your walk to the gym. This Lucy half zip is everything you want; it’s
bright, has mesh in the underarm area, and thumbholes. For the days where spring is nowhere to be found, Throw on this magenta top and get going! (Lucy on sale $49.99 – $54.99)

These are all great pieces because they can be worn in the very warm weather as well as right now! Throw on a long-sleeve top or a running jacket over your tank when it’s cold or wear just the top when it’s warm outside. Crops are great for running at most temperatures and raincoats are a must for mud season in the North East, but don’t lose your spring fever!
