Unless you live under a rock, we’ve all heard of the five languages: physical touch, acts of service, quality time, gifts, and words of affirmation. These languages, first written about by Gary Chapman in his book, The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate, describes how we like to show love and be loved by our partners, family, and friends. To find out what your love language is take the quiz here.

This Valentine’s Weekend I challenge you to think about how you can use your love language to start showing love to yourself!

Here are some examples below:

    • Develop a skin care routine

    • Have a spa day

  • Acts of Service: I feel most loved when you show actions to make my life easier.

    • Schedule appointments

    • Use a planner

    • Clean and organize to create a pleasing home environment

    • Work on a to-do list

  • Quality Time: I feel most loved when you actively spend time with me.

    • Read a new book

    • Watch something new on Netflix

    • Cook yourself a nice meal

    • Spend time on your hobbies

  • Gifts: I feel most loved when you give visual symbols of love.

    • Take a trip (with COVID precautions)

    • Spend money on your hobbies

    • Invest in yourself

    • Buy clothes or makeup

  • Words of Affirmation: I feel most loved when you write or speak about your love.
